the great George Flippin on the team. He played in 1892. He was the first black player at Nebraska and just the 5th to play at a predominately white institution.
Back in those days, Missouri refused to play the Cornhuskers because of Flippin and lost 1-0 in a forfeit. Flippin was Johnny Rodgers before he was the Player of the Century.
