I like 4.0 because its easier to add weight than reduce weight for custom figures. In addition I believe that the heavier weighted player is less sensative to board bounce and allows you to play with high board speed without guys falling as much. Even the new figures of the new "vibrating football" are greater than miggle so I see a slightly heavier weight as less limiting as it relates to new figures, customs figures, bases, custom big boards (which are more challenging to control vibration patterns), etc.
To add weight it is so SIMPLE, just stick the PAPER TAK stuff under the base (see picture), and its easily removeable. This stuff will be heavy enough to take a 3.2 team to 4.0 and then you can easily remove it if your league plays with 3.4 or something. In other words, any current 3.2 teams would NOT be obsolete with the 4.0 weight system and can be converted back to 3.2 in 2 minutes. I also like using the weight under the base to counter balance a custom figure if needed. Check out the pictures. Weight can help for strength but not necessarily speed, my 4.0 teams have lighter skill positions ~3.3-3.6g (~2.3-2.6 figures on rookie bases 0.7-1.0g). I find that the lighter weight is more prone to "bounce off off contact" rather than push when the base makes contact. Reg- what is the weight of your skill positions?
So get some of the post tac (I'd recommend white color), you can use it to tweak your team to play 4.0 and a variety of other things. It works like a magnet for wood boards to mount things like the down markers, goal posts, referees, sideline numbers, pass placement football, etc. Lastly, if you feel the need to reduce the weight of your figure I have some platforms that are the same size and ~0.3 than the FF platforms.
