now that i think of it, some injection molded materials must be heat treated before having paint applied to them. i think that you are on the right path, just run an open flame across the part to be glued, don't melt it, just get it glossy, then apply the glue, let it cool down and see if it holds. this has worked out well for me on the few occasions that i have needed to paint certain injection molded materials, before heat treatment, the paint would blow off with compressed air, after heat treatment, it took a shard of metal to scratch the paint off. regardless, it's worth a try.
