Default asked and answered...

a big part of your question has already been aswered very well by Mr. Rutledge. As far as a debate is concerned I don't believe its relevant as it would assume that one weight is better than another, which is ridiculous proposition in the first place, as is the premise of this post. If the question is "is 3.2 a thing of the past" that question has been answered "NO" as there are still many Tournaments and Leagues (in fact, one of the largest) that still play at that standard.

If the question is "is 4.0 a BETTER standard" than 3.2, and hence a better game, well you already have your answer and you knew the answer before you wrote your post.

As to why our league decided to stay @ 3.2, I will allow those who are better versed in the area of bases, base tweaking and strength to answer that question. It suffices to say that there are as many reasons to play at 3.2 as there are to play at higher weights.

If you think your system/ weight is better, than just come out and say so.
Don't hide your intentions like you are seeking information when you have the information already.

We also did the measurement with the brown base (which was slightly heavier). This was done to include all figures and bases into the Shootout. We never thought this would become the standard throughout the country. I just felt in fairness to everybody with figures and equipment, we had to make it right for everybody.

Thus, when the 4.0 gram came into effect, it was all-inclusive. It was easier to add weight on to a figure by putting under the base than shaving up players and making them smaller.
