Default Keep the newbies in mind...........

Ken and viking10 hit the nail on the head...........

This post had a bit of elitist tone about equipment/way of playing is THE way to play and the OLD way is primitive.

And yes, I have played weighted before……………. I choose to have my potential coaches pool larger by playing with the existing standard, then to limit it by playing a weighted format……………………plain and simple, a lot of guys are not into that yet…. If playing weighted is a great way to play I’m sure over time it will gain acceptance, but we ain’t near being there yet.

New guys are not looking to add this and custom that, ..............they just want to play, ...............and keeping this thing basic is the way you get more new guys in the hobby, compared to having all the hoops to jump through to be competitive. .

Most of them have their old stuff from the 60's, 70's, or eighties, and they just want to play.

I know for a fact the Harrisburg BuzzBall League would not have had the 16 guys in our league this season had we employed extremely complicated rules and had extra hurdles for guys to jump over to make a weighted team to play AND be competitive......................yet we have a rgeat time and are very competitive.

I think the 3.2 3.3 thing, which is a misnomer to begin with, is only going to grow, NOT go by the wayside, ………………………because we are growing the hobby!

The current figures being made at 1.5 -2.0 grams IS the standard as long as Excalibur and miggle continue to be in large scale retail outlets selling to the masses……………and making little boards with low power,………………..come to think of it, ……….guys wanting to play on “scale boards”, ………………wouldn’t it be easier to have smaller guys than what we have now?, ……………..yeah, now THAT is having a MORE realistic way of playing, without all the space constraints of a current big board…….

I think most guys are strapped for leisure time, so it makes sense to have a baseline way to play with basic equipment…………………have it simple and easy for guys to start to play…and by having it basic, guys can be ready to play because they just got a new set for Christmas AND they can be somewhat competitive RIGHT AWAY, without having to learn how to add weight, shave weight, boil bases, etc………… Guys, we are selling this and one must strike while the iron is hot……………..get them to play right away.

Correct me if I am wrong,…………………… but isn't the goal to grow your local leagues AND grow the hobby?
