When electriccoach.com was in its infancy, I was not really customizing. The only thing that I was doing in regards to customizing was switching the arms on my Buzzball figures.
During that time, I had a box of figures from Reginald Rutledge. Honestly speaking, I wasn’t sure how to integrate them into my teams of Haiti repro and Buzzball figures. My uncertainty was due to the fact that the surfaces of Reg’s figures were not smooth like that of the Haitis and the Buzzballs. I have a pet peeve for uniformity. Furthermore, some of the poses didn’t quite grab me. I like for most of my poses to be in some type of running configuration.
Yes, a few years ago Biglock uploaded a post showing his newly customized figures. I liked what he had done. It was cool how he created other figures from figures. After seeing Biglocks crafts, I still wasn’t doing it. Another peeve of mine is leaving things in their natural state. I still had Reg’s brand new figures sitting on the shelf.
Going against one of my peeves, I began to sever the torso of one Haiti linebacker figure, but it was an old booger figure that I had from back in the day. Basically, it was a practice figure. Then I sawed off the legs of a Haiti running back; another practice figure. I glued the legs to the torso and it looked ok. After I made a few more types of figures out of Haitis and Buzzballs I began to see how I wanted to use Reg’s figures.
The first teams that I customized using Reg’s figures combined with the Haitis and Buzzballs was my 49ers and Raiders, both of which can be seen on YouTube. Now on
www.electriccoach.com you can see my customized Cowboys and Packers. Next NFL season will be the Chiefs and the Colts. By the way, does everybody have the capability to see videos on YouTube? If so, I will upload another video depicting my customized ideas.
I call the T.O. figure the “physical wide receiver” because once the board is turned on the figure mounted on a boiled base creates havoc with the corner back; especially the cover corner type of figure. T.O. had 1 possession for 53 yards and 1 touchdown on the website.
I say thank you Biglock and Reginald Rutledge for showing me a new way to approach this hobby. Your ideas have given the Electric Coach something else to put on video as well as talk about.
