You are absolutely right on the element of surprise. Because of the versatility of these bases and the players (when I reference athletes, I am talking base + player =athlete), these players can go straight ahead on simple dive plays, move laterally, at angles for zone blocking. I run power sweeps with a combination of these bases and TTC bases. I will do a slow-mo demo on that and I will show a regular play as it is happening.
Some people think that if the players don't do it on every play, they really are not doing there job and it's not worth the hassle. I have never seen in any game a player winning his battle on every play. You have to know and sense when you have the other team off balance. You've got to know where the hole is at ahead of time.
Yes, nothing is shown and under the rule system that we are govern by, it leads to a wide open style of play. So many holes are busted open because people are trying to counter the gaps or even stack. We want you to do things that are not balalnced because it works in our favor.
One last thing. For my O-Lines, I change them out. I've got 10 linemen that look just alike. They are interchangeable. The other 5 linemen are Proline bases that has power. But with the 35/45 second clock, it does not give them enough time to know where everyone is at.

The players are actually moving at a great rate of speed. The center of gravity for some of these players causes them to have greater momentum in various directions. So when a field is stopped, it is so sudden that players are trying to slow down and they fall. But when they are lined up opposite the other team, that does not happen. The only falling down happens is when coaches are screamin' after the hole part open like the Red Sea!
