Alot of those wargame figures have much more intricate detail than the MF figures do. I think that makes it easier to figure out where to paint and what shade to use. Example, MF figures usually don't have a face, just a blank hunk of plastic there. If you want a face, you have to make it up yourself. War figures will have eyes, nose, chin, cheeks, mouth with lips etc. That makes it not only easier, but by nature ends up better looking in the end as well. But if you really want to, you can use war skills for MF without the extra detail. You just need to use more imagination, that's all
