I also upon getting back into the hobby bought a few of the old 620's and w/just a few binder clips it purrs. I then bought a new Miggle 620 off of ebay, wow what a disappointment. That board was horrible, when I asked the forum for tips on how to tweak this board into performing, I'd say Green Bay Glenn said it best (I believe he said this), he said to take it out to your driveway and run over it with your truck!!

With that advice I ended up putting it back on ebay. I basically couldn't get my men to run on it, and it had plenty of dips in it as Shabby mentioned above. Now as far as customs go, Watts, Reg's 308 or Chris Field make sweet custom boards, and IMO the old or new 620's just don't compare. But these boards aren't cheap, but they last. Go old 620's if you don't have the cash, and custom if you do.
