Question about the option: what if the offense never turns off the switch? Is it just a QB run? Or can the offense pitch anytime (like 20 yards downfield)? But in that case, what about the 10-yard downfield adjust rule for the defense?

One possibility: once the QB gets 5 yards downfield (between 5-10 yards), it becomes a QB run. The offense must turn off the switch and hand it to the defense.

Second question: the LAEFL has a rule that all 3 backfield players can't be headed in the same direction at the start of the play. This was to prevent the 3-up-the-gut scrum play. Is that rule in effect on the option?
