EFGamer,
I understand your confusion, B/C there are many types of bases, at times it can be overwhelming. From what I understand the difference between 1st run pro-line and the pro-lines available now all has to do with the plastic being used. The plastic is much harder now making the base very difficult to work with. The 1st run pro-lines had very soft prongs and were much easier to tweak. I don't know everything there is to know about bases but I will tell you to keep it as simple as you can. One of the best bases I first started experimenting with was the the(polo green rookie and TTC), this is a very consistent base and is available through miggle at a very reasonable price. There are very good tweakers on this board and if you reach out to them they will be happy to help you. I cannot emphasize this enough, keep it simple start off with maybe 2 different bases, as you evolve in the hobby you will gain a better understanding of the different type of bases. If you do a little research on this forum you will find information about these type of bases your wondering about, there is plenty of information here for you to explore. Now I would suggest you start with something like the (polo green TTC and Rookie), bases. And also get your hands on some Good pro-line first run bases and you should be on your way to building yourself a very competitive team. Please do not bury yourself with all the different bases available, B/C there are VERY VERY many of them. Don't drown yourself, if you'll follow the suggestion about keeping it simple in the beggining you will evolve into using the type of bases you prefer, it will come in time. You may reach out to me anytime you wish and I'll try to help you along your journey.
Best of Luck to You
