The criticism of a style such as the Shootout style is harsh instead of focusing on your own style of play and showing people what excites YOU about what you do.

I don't need a cheerleader to tell anyone of the Shootout style. I tell people this is what it is. You are more than welcome to be a part of it but if you don't, I understand. I will continue to sing the praises of the Shootout style because I know the joy it gives people who play it.

But some guys criticize it, saying "Monopoly, unreal, stupid, etc". Some are condensing, saying they are the only ones who know football and are simulating football. To me, that does not matter because what we've got here is miniature football. Brainless, heartless, plastic athletes who will do whatever you tell them to (or at least try).

But there's no need to be condensing or try to bait people into conversations that have raged on for many years just to try to stimulate rhetoric. Talk about what you do. If you are having a tournament, the worst thing you can do is come on here and slam another tournament or person's style of play. You will never get the numbers you want.

All I can tell people is that we will continue to play the game (and it is a game) with dice, with stadiums, with custom figures, with throwing QBs, and anything else that adds to the excitement of our experience. And I will always wonder, "Just what is it you want from me or the football community as a whole?"

Agree with everything you said.

I just truly believe the discussion gets more personal because the styles were developed from the heart and soul of the people debating.

It snowballs as it goes along...but I don't think ANYONE means to personally offend anyone else when debating styles. BUT, it comes across as a personal attack when someone doesn't agree with or likes another style better because the particular style of play DOES represent the creator's personal beliefs of how the game should be played. That's when these conversations go to another level. The unintentional personal style rejection becomes a misinterpreted personal slam.....which then evolves into INTENTIONAL personal slams.

I think everyone could understand if they would step back and try to see it that way.

Reggie....you are truly a class act and an exception to the norm when it comes to representing, debating and promoting your own work. You always have been. You are a rare breed...but for most other cases, it's easy to understand how others make debating personal styles evolve into personal attacks.

It doesn't justify it at all...it just makes it easier to understand.

I just still don't think those that do even intend it to come across that way, especially at first. But it does...then it snowballs into something ugly.

I don't like it...but I can understand it.

Just my 3.5 cents.
