How long is the timer box supposed to be?

also, to clarify...

i can stop the board to make a pass attempt before the "timer runs out", correct?

now once the pass is complete, and there is still time left, can i adjust the men, let the time run out, then adjust the men again because of the stoppage? Sorry if that wasnt written well, sounds confusing. wait, a better way i think.
in the event a pass is attempted and completed with more stoppage time available, can i still make adjustments on that play, then more on the next stoppage. this will in effect give me an extra stoppage, is this correct?

i assume that if i stop the board early to pass, then turn it on to complete the pass, i let the board run til said completed pass despite the timer running out for that stoppage. if this happens, then we just make adjustments to that play as it was a regular stoppage.
