Default Boiling Talk

As I said earlier, some of my tweaked bases can compete against my boiled bases. Overall, my boils win over my tweaks. I understand why base boiling is not accepted among leagues around the hobby. The main reason is one can never tell what a boiled base is going to do. The boiling process makes a batch of bases unpredictable. Some of the bases get the right balance of water and oils. Those bases can perform among tweaks. Those bases that absorb more oil than water tend to be those bases that push everything off of the table.

Since water and oil really don’t blend, the mixture has places in it where a base can get more or less of water and oil. The size of the pot, oil used, the balance of oil and water, number of bases, boiling temperature, time spent boiling, and texture of the bases along with other factors will have an affect on how the base will respond and perform after it has been boiled.

In regards to oil used, I use a mineral and baby oil mixture. That’s all I would ever use. I can’t imagine using anything else. I wouldn’t try using motor oil or brake fluid. That just seems to be too harsh and unnecessary. If you can’t apply it to your skin like baby oil or put it in your food like mineral oil don’t boil it. I wouldn’t use cooking oil. Yeah, let’s try base frying.
