Here's the game by game recaps.....

The WMLMF season began with the defending champion Canadian Sasquatch taking on the Munich Third Reich. The big guys scored first on a 32 yard touchdown ramble by their fullback, Grog. Munich bounced right back with a five play, 59 yard drive that was capped by a 14 yard TD toss to Dieter Zimmermann. Another long run by Grog had the ‘Quatch up at the end of the first quarter 14 - 7.

The Third Reich’s quarterback, Wilhelm Klink, took advantage of the extra room provided by the new Buzzball field and once again found an open Zimmermann to tie the score. The Sasquatch used their battering ram one-two punch of Muckman and Grog to move the ball, but on a second and five, Dirk Lange intercepted a badly overthrown pass from Stinkwater and returned it to the ‘Quatch 31. Klink wasted no time and found Willie Wolf all alone in the end zone as there seemed to be some confusion in the Canadians backfield. This time, it was Muckman bowling over the defenders as the Sasquatch tied the score at 21 all. A 39 yard pass to Zimmermann got the Reich into field goal range and Franz Schultz split the uprights to give them a 24 - 21 lead going into the half.

Richard Meier took the second half kickoff 99 yards for a TD to give Munich a 31 - 21 lead. Knowing that there was still plenty of time, the ‘Quatch continued to batter down the Third Reich’s defense and Grog’s TD run cut the lead to 31 - 28. The defending champs finally settled down and started to play defense. With the running game stopped, Klink kept airing it out and connected with Wolf on a 43 yard bomb to give the Reich a 10 point lead once again. The big guys again marched into Munich territory where the drive stalled as the Reich showed that they can play a little defense of their own. Bunyons’ field goal attempt sailed wide right and the Germans took over the ball as the fourth quarter started.

The Sasquatch were determined to show why they are the defending champs, as Too Tall, the left defensive end, tipped Klink’s pass and intercepted it at midfield. Muckman scored his second TD of the day three plays later and the lead was shortened to 38 - 35. Once again, Klink guided the Germans down the field, but on 2nd and 11 from the ’Quatch 15, Thinker stepped in front of a Klink pass and intercepted it where he returned the ball out to the ‘Quatch 29. Displaying an air of confidence, Stinkwater led his team on a 10 play, 71 yard drive that ended with another TD plunge by Grog to put them up, 42 - 38. With only one play remaining, Klink threw one last pass but came up short.

Klink finished the game 10 - 13 - 2 int and 4 TD’s for 306 yards, but ultimately it was the combination of Grog’s 287 yards, 4TD’s and Muckmans 136 yards, 2TD’s that powered the Sasquatch to the win.
