The season started off with a bang for the Toxic Waste as Orenthal Simpson took the opening kick off 79 yards to the Fairies 11. From there, it only took 1 run by Steve Colbert to put the Toxic Waste up 7 - 0. Not to be outdone, James Leach returned the kick to the Fairy 48 as both special teams seemed to be having trouble adjusting to the new big board. 7 plays later, Tommy Cruise threw a bullet to Leach to tie the score at 7 all. The Fairies got the ball back 2 plays later when Forrest Whittaker intercepted an errant throw by George Dubya. The Fairies moved the ball to the Waste 25, but had to settle for a 42 yard field goal by Fidel Castro to give them a 10 - 7 lead. The Fairies held and forced a punt. The Waste also forced the Fairies to punt, but were able to block it and give themselves great field position at the Fairy 14. 3 plays later Simpson scored on an 18 yard run to put Three Mile Island up 14 - 10 at the half.

The 3rd quarter saw both teams struggle to move the ball and the score remained the same to start the 4th quarter. 3 plays into the final quarter, Cruise ran a QB sneak from the 1 and put the Fairies on top, 17 - 14. Once again, a long kick return by Simpson gave the Toxic Waste excellent field position at the Fairies 38. This time Dubya found Terry Owens open for a 19 yard score and the Waste were back in front 21 - 17. With the running game no longer effective, Cruise aired it out once again. This time, he found tight end Gene Simmons open in the flats. Gene had an open field in front of him, but decided to turn towards the sidelines. As he was headed out of bounds, one of his linemen came up and hit him from the side, turning him the other direction. Simmons ran down the field a little, then started to turn again. Once more, another Fairy player came up and hit him from the side, only this time he followed Gene all the way to the end zone to be sure that the didn’t go out of bounds. It only took 2 players to try and make Simmons go straight, but the effort was rewarded with a TD as the Fairies went back up 24 - 21. There was plenty of time left, and the Waste used Simpson and Leach to move the ball into Fairy territory. On the last play of the game, Castro tried for a 55 yard field goal, but the ball hit the uprights and bounced away and the Fairies walked away with the win, 24 - 21.

Tommy Cruise led the Fairies with 11 - 13 - 1 passing for 183 yards and 2 TD’s. Simpson ran for 53 yards on 13 carries and 1 score for the Waste. Whittaker and Richard Simmons each had an interception for San Francisco while Dick Nixon had a pick for Three Mile Island.

Terry Owens, #19, was wide open in the corner of the end zone, giving the Waste a 21 - 17 lead
