Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I use a metal 500 because it runs perfect. I use lowest to highest settings to test my team's performance. Very low for a crappy board. Very high for a high performance board. It's really the surface of a field that determine it's performance. So, if a surface slows my team down or speeds others up then I have consistency. This way I may have to coach my team differently, yet still get the performance expected. It's mainly why I tend to be highly successful on the away board.
Many coaches complain about certain boards in our league. I don't because my teams are prepared to perform, more or less, anywhere. That what the "5 hundy" does for me.
My team sees my home field on game day and with a slight adjustment, based on the type of board, tilt, warp, whatever, then I coach them. I may say a field is crappy, but I never use it as a reason for a loss. Just my humble opinion.
