Looking Beneath the Surface
Mike,
I want to applaud you on your creative spirit. So many times, people are scared to "put it out there" in fear of criticism, failure, etc. But you were willing to put it out there and ask for comments.
Sometimes, I think guys will not comment in fear of what they think the poster may say. I know it to be true of some that sometimes its best just not to say anything.
In some instances, I would even agree but I think in this instance, you wanted an honest opions on what others thought.
I think beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I think if you think in your heart of hearts that you think its beautiful, that's what you deem as art.
I would like to offer a few suggestions. Seeing that it is a Footballfigures.com product, I first want to thank you for using our product to demonstrate your artistic talents. I would then like to say the concept of creating players which can pull off their hats is very good. I do something quite similar. I cut a hat off a player and glue it onto another players arm. I then take a model "O" scale person form sitting figures or whatever and cut that.
If I want to have the heads interchangeable, I would then drill a hole into the figure's upper body which would have the same diameter as a plastic screw that I can get at your local Home Depot.
I would then take the cut head from the hobby person and super glue a piece of the threaded screw onto it. For the other helmet that he can either carry or just have on the ground, I would put another screw piece at the helme'ts base.
Thus, I would be able to screw and unscrew either the helmet or just the face into the body of the figure.
Mike, so many things I have had negative feedback on. You may have interpreted the lack of response as negative and some may very well have been. However, you keep on persevering and try some similar techniques as what I have talked about earlier and you should be okay. Keep the creative juices flowing. Continue to stay hyped up about customizing because its guys like you that think outside the box is what will help the hobby continue to endure.
Give me a call any time and we can discuss customizing techniques.
