Membership has its privileges
Instead of closing the site off to the masses why don't we create some privileges for those who join. Closing the site to paid members may only serve to choke out interest rather than promote the hobby.
Here are some brainstorming ideas...
MFCA membership may entitle you to things like:
10% discount on vendor's products (for those businesses who choose to participate)
The ability to officially count wins and losses and keep stats for Hall-of-Fame, Coach of the Year, or other status awards.
Move to the "front-of-the-line" type programs... like preferred seeding at tournaments, or access to higher level website functions.
You could also enroll members in some type of "rewards program". Once you have accumulated so many points... you could redeem them for all kinds of stuff.
