This will be the last report in this post for the season. I'll start a new post exclusively for the playoffs and championship games soon. Here's the player awards results...
The
WMLMF Defensive Player of the Year is Norman Nest of the Kalamazoo Killer Bees. Norman led the league in interceptions with 8, twice as many as next person on the list, and half of the Bees league high 16. He was such a force in the defensive backfield that other teams refused to throw in his vicinity. Nest averaged 2 tackles a game, and had 3 forced fumbles on the season.
The
WMLMF Offensive Player of the Year is Grog of the Canadian Sasquatch. Grog was the regular season rushing champion with 1287 yards on 117 carries for an 11.0 yards per carry average and scored 16 touchdowns. He was the league’s 10th leading receiver with 313 yards and 2 touchdowns. Grog was also the teams leading kickoff returner, averaging over 30 yards per return.
The
WMLMF MVP is Billy Bob Weisser of the Midwest Mennonites. The ‘Bible Thumper’ was the highest rated QB in the league with a 144.3 rating and threw for 1438 yards and 15 touchdowns, all while throwing only 1 interception for the entire year. Calling all his own plays, (the Mennonites won’t allow headphones to be used), Weisser guided his team to the Un-North division title and a playoff appearance in only their first season of existence.
Congratuations to all three players....
