Battered Bozos Still Standing


Beaten, battered and bloody, the Battlin’ Bozos hung on to defeat the Midwest Mennonites, 17-14. Once again the game came down to the final play, only this time it was the clowns’ Bernie who came through in the clutch as he hit a 20 yard field goal as time expired to propel them into the WMLMF championship game.

The clowns jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead on touchdown runs by 5 ½ and More or Less. The amish fought back to tie the game on a touchdown reception by Mudder Smucker and a run by Speedy Ezekiel. The Mennonites had the ball halfway into the 4th quarter and had a chance to go in front, but Plus intercepted a Billy Bob Weisser pass and the Bozos ran the ball down to the 3 yard line before Bernie hit the field goal on the last play of the game. 5 ½ finished the game with 77 yards running on 6 carries and a TD, while Speedy had 57 yards for the Mennonites. Weisser was 10-15-2 passing for 172 yards. Greaterthanfour had 6 tackles for the Bozos while Barney Fahrney and Louis Lapp had 5 apiece for the amish.
