I see where you're going with having to have ten different "setups" on Defense, but I have to alert you to how inconsistent that would be to real football.
There isn't a snowball's chance in hell that any DC would setup in a GL defense if the O is in a 5-Wide set.
So, since I know you too use the video game playbooks, I would recommend you use certain Defenses based on Offensive setups ie 4-3 & 3-4 vs. normal Offenses (2 RBs/1 or 2 TEs) and Nickel and Dime against obvious passing formations 3 or 4 WRs. Then you could have ten (or more) different plays for each Defensive set, which could possibly be the same ten just with different personnel.
Off the top of my head I think I use twelve base formations that have twenty plays each, and of course GL and Special Teams are used when appropriate.
However you choose to do it, have fun and dont let the other coaches in your solitaire league cheat you like they do in mine!
