Dre, this is why stacking is allowed
In this style of play, you may rob Peter to pay Paul sort a speak. In other words, there are ways to get to the QB up the middle. A lot is based on the combination of player/base that you use. Also, when you employ a middle backer right behind the nose tackle or defensive tackle, it creates a push.
This is why stacking is allowed. You can not expect to get a sack on the QB all the time but the strategy is to force him to throw the ball before he wants to. Like Shabby said, 3 seconds and that receiver is usually wide open on a slant or on a corner route or the RB has flared up the field about 10 yards.
In this style, on any given day, anybody can smash anybody. It's just a matter of if you brought your A game or not. Mike, Oscar Woodard, Greg Hardmon, and I run a certain system that limits you. Greg has taken to the style like not many but he's asked many questions.
No one is unbeatable in this style of play and that's why it is a lot of fun. But stacking is one of those things that make you have to throw the ball with great accuracy. If they stack to get pressure up the middle, you can always go around end or spread your line and do inside screen plays.
You're only limited by your own imagination.
