Default Buzzball TTC Bases

Can someone tell me a little bit about the Buzzball TTC bases? I noticed in the photos that it has a different shaped dial. I was just curious as to how well they performed. In my short experience, it seems like the Miggle Standard and Old Frosty TTC Bases are kinda useless out the box and I'm not all that comfortable tweaking yet. Though the dials on the Old Frosty bases seem to be a little better. I'm gettering ready to order the Strong Proline Rookies, but I've heard mixed reviews on the Proline TTCs.

I actually really like them. The way they are built, I do not think that you can control their direction with the dial. I can tweak them to be fairly fast (not as fast as the buzzball clear speed bases), but they are ok. The best part about them is that once they are tweaked, they head real straight and do not jump around. They are somewhat heavy, so I guess that helps them be stable. I use them for TE bases mainly and maybe a LB or two to cover the middle or provide extra push with the d-line. I have also used them as WRs, but they are not going to bounce off a corner and get open like a clear buzzball speed will do. They are great when you use sticks for passing because they are very reliable to hit the ball stick.

Reading your post, sounds like you do not tweak yet. I will say that the prongs on these bases are real long out of the pack, so they will sit up real high. I would have to think that you would at a minimum have to cut them down some to use them. I have not tried one untweaked/uncut yet.

Default bases

Those bases are actually called DDB.George should be coming out with his TTC in the near future.I have not worked with his DDB base yet. From some reviews you can make them very fast.Pratt had some at buzzball very strong.

Default Base

The prongs on the front are on the dial. You can't move the dial.Looks like if you trim the dial you might be able to move but the dial is not tight on the nipple of the shell. You could put a TTC dial in the DDB shell or take the DDB dial and put in a TTC base. Hope this helps.I need to start working with mine to.

Yeah...I think the dial/DDB design was a mistake made at the molding or production stage. That said, these bases are very good stable platforms. The prongs are at the corners, very much like the newer Proline rookies. I have tweaked them for speed with good success. Easy to get them to run straight and true. I have gotten some strength with these bases as well, but it is harder to do that on a consistent basis. I have been experimenting with putting DDB dials in other shells and vice versa and that has been productive. The plastic for these bases is good quality...soft and pliable...kind of like the Prolines.

Default DDB's

Hi guys,

I would like to clear up a few things, ........the odd shape dial is by design, not a mistake, it is to get the most stability possible. I mainly designed these for myself, as when I used/use a dial base I rarely move/adjust/turn the dial anyway so that's why I made the "version one" the way it is currently.

I got soooo tired of the TTC bases nose diving...... another reason why I made these, .........and you will find when the Round DDB dial comes out it will not have the tendency to nose dive as much as the meegle stuff, but you will have the ability to adjust it 360'.

As many guys as I have played, in as many leagues I have played, I RARELY see guys adjusting Dials on their O and D Lines, ...........I've seen dial adjustments mostly if used as loopers, Fullbacks, and for D-Backs playing zone.

The round dial is also designed, ............and there are some first runs out there, they were molded in white, .............but until I get around to getting the thousands of dollars it takes to run the second design, they are on the back burner.

I have gotten great strength from these current DDB's, I recently won the Harrisburg Pro BuzzBall League using them..............and I have also gotten great speed from them as well. In the LA league, The DFL, a league that allows weighted boiled bases, .....My line stood up to the boiled bases and even pushed some around, .......I did add weight to mine so they were as heavy as my competitors.......on that same team I have a DDB that could be one of the fastest bases in the league........I only say that as I have seen my opponents eyes and hear them remark about the base.

If you are new to tweaking I can honestly say that these bases can be tweaked to run without much expertise. When I say run, ......I mean you will get them running and then you can assign the position you feel the base will perform best, with the figure. You will, however, need more experience to get blazing speed or brute strength out of them.

I also want to add, unlike my competitor, you don't have to buy a set of rounded or flat fronts, ..............With the BuzzBall DDB, one end has a rounded end and the other, traditionally used as the back of the base is flat. All you have to do is tweak for which end you want to be the front. The prongs come packaged in a clams, shell, .........remember, BuzzBall was the first to ship bases that way, ........and they should be straight so you tweak them the way you want.

With any new product there is a learning curve involved, and we are still finding new tweaking techniques for these bases.

For starters, I would recommend tweaking tools, the gold handled from sears are my favorites, a firm squeeze of the prongs, slightly curled back, and a little sand paper will get you beginners on your way for strength.

For Speed, a firm squeeze of the prongs, .....................test, ......... then use a candle if you think its needed, ..............watch my you-tube video key word "BuzzBall" "tweakin for speed" the same techniques can be used on the DDB for speed.

As with any skill, tweaking require practice and patience, ...........heck, if it was real easy, I think the hobby would have lost some if it's allure, ..........it does take some time, ...........I swear, once you really start tweaking some bases, it makes it all worth the while.

Thanks for the kind words about the DDBs,

Hope this clarifies some things and answers some questions.

Default DDBs

Being new to this experience, I'd like to say that of the 200 or so bases I've tweaked, the DDBs are among the fastest and strongest. I plan on gettin' some more in the near future. As far as the TTC bases, the first ones I bought were the Miggle, but not the Proline. The dial was much too loose and would turn on it's own. I don't know it this is acceptable, but just so I could get some semblance of control, I glued them in place on the outside and they are ok. Of course, the Proline have proved much better. Had an interesting experience with the FF blitzer(set in back of base with outstretched arms). When I put him face forward, he was just spinning round and round, but face to the rear, it was the fastest and straightest figure I've had. Great on dropping into pass coverage Oh, well, I'm learnin'

Default Good results

George,

I too, being "newish" to tweaking, bout 3 1/2 months have found these DDB's to be easy to tweak...They also help me add a little weight to get up to 3.5 which is what we are currently playing down here.

I have to say, going to my first "tourney" style format last week at the Dixie league I encountered and saw an awful lot of speed diamonds "buzzing" around at GREAT speeds by some "names" in the hobby. I am still working on tweaking those bad boys, specifically to "bounce" off a DB...I witnessed it done to me many times. I believe they were tweaked by ChetDakota with his nephew John who just schooled me w/those bases and the sticks to the tune of 28-7. I'm open for hints from y'all

Is there a way to get your black bases with out being at an event with you?
