Default Sport or Hobby?

Comrads:

By a show of posts, how many of you consider Miniature Football:

a) A sport
b) A hobby
c) both

Carpe Diem,
Paul L. Gardner

P.S. - If there is no point on the ball, what is the point to the game.

If there is not a buzzing sound coming from your driveway on any given weekend or weekday in the Fall, then you are not having fun.

Default Sport or hobby?

I guess I consider it a hobby first since a hobby is defined as an auxiliary activity, a favourite pursuit or spare-time pursuit practiced for interest and enjoyment.

This is how Webster's defines and explains a hobby: Hobbies are practiced for interest and enjoyment, rather than as paid work. Engaging in a hobby can lead to acquiring substantial skill, knowledge, and experience. However, personal fulfillment is the aim. Pursuit of a hobby often has calming or helpful therapeutic side effects. In some cases, however, (for example in collecting) the line between a hobby and an obsession can become blurred.

How many of us have crossed that line?

Sport on the other hand is defined as an active diversion requiring physical exertion and competition.

Some interesting synonyms for sport: amusement, entertainment, recreation, fun, game, fun and games; diversion, divertissement; reaction, solace; pastime.

So in that respect, I quess it is a hobby and a sport for me.

The hobby part I believe is painting and building. The game part is playing. This is not aa sport.

Default Sport

EF is not something that you just play with and just enjoy doing. There is competition involved, and that makes it a sport to me.

I think it s a hobby. A sport involves some sort of physical exertion, like in the bedroom. I guess that would explain why my wife always says I'm a poor sport.

Yeah, that Sham Wow comes in real handy to wipe up Jimbo's tears when he loses.
