Default 300

First, let me say welcome to the new coaches who recently joined the MFCA. I believe that you will enjoy your membership along with the fellowship you'll get with the rest of us EF crazies! But....let's not stop there.

CAN WE MAKE IT TO 300 BEFORE THE YEAR IS OVER? I say we can. We can become 300 strong (and growing). Let's work to get more coaches on board.

Let's ransack and pillage our leagues and tourneys leaving no stone unturned in our quest for 300. Hide the women and children....no wait....invite the women and children if they wish to become members. Let's pick-up momentum going into the holiday season. Let's move the ball forward!

WHAT SAY YE ALL!!!

Quality before quantity is my new mantra, but one thing we can do to encourage people to sign up is the new MFCA League. The prizes are really nice and you don't have to do anything more than play 8 games against another 8 MFCA members, anywhere , anytime any rules. These games can be part of your regular league games as long as you designate before playing that that game is counted as a MFCA game.

Ronnie Bradley has already played 2 games against Hightower and Edgar Downs.

Here are the current point rankings after 2 games played
Ronnie Bradley 31
Edgar Downs 27
Brian Hightower 16

Ronnie is the #1 rank right now. Keep in mind that at the end of the year we add on the quality game bonus points so anybody can jump up to first.

No need to apologize...just 2 great minds thinking alike.

BTW...I like your idea of getting wargammers involved. I think that is an untapped source.

Here are the rules in case you all forgot!

The MFCA League (MFCAL) began on September 4, 2009!!
As many of you know, it was proposed on the forum and voted on and passed at the 2009 annual business meeting to start a league for the MFCA membership. The MFCA League has begun and the rules are very simple!
  • If you are a MFCA Member you are in the MFCA League.
  • You may join at any time, but your MFCA membership (minimum $20.00 level) must be paid in full prior to playing a legal MFCA League game.
  • The first MFCAL regular season starts September 4, 2009 and ends July 1, 2010. The winner will be announced on July 4, 2010.
  • Each MFCAL coach may play up to a maximum of 8 games, each with a different opponent. Both coaches in a game must be MFCA paid members at the time of the game.
  • You may play with ANY rule set (4 complete quarters is required) and may count your local league or tournament games if both coaches are current MFCA members and have agreed, prior to starting the game, that it is to be counted as a MFCAL game. Once agreed upon, you may not withdraw from the agreement in case you happen to be losing! In the case of an emergency, the game may be postponed at any point. Every effort should be made to complete it at a later date.
  • Only full games (4 complete quarters) are counted. No tap outs. You are allowed, if in the lead, with little time remaining, to take a knee in the 4th quarter to end the game! Running up the score, all though not illegal, is NOT encouraged and fair play is expected. Any game not played to the full extent of the rules being used cannot be counted.
  • At the completion of the game, the winning coach must go online (url to be provided soon) and submit a simple form which will include the rule set used including the weight limit/s, winning coach name, losing coach name, teams used and final score. If internet access is not available, the pertinent info may be mailed in to the league statistician.
  • During the season, any rule or question not covered above will be determined and acted upon solely by the MFCAL Commissioner, Ken Allen.
Points are awarded as follows.
0-7 game points scored=1 MFCAL point
8-14 game points scored=2 MFCAL point
15-21 game points scored=3 MFCAL points
22-above game points scored=4 MFCAL points
Winning coach receives an additional 10 MFCAL points for the win
Losing coach only gets MFCAL points for game points scored per the chart above.

Quality win points bonus: At the end of the season, you will be awarded 5 bonus points each for every MFCAL win an opponent you have beaten achieves.
For example:
Coach A beats Coach B
Coach B goes on to win 5 of his remaining 7 games
At the end of the season, Coach A will receive 25 (Coach B’s 5 wins times 5 points each) additional points added to his yearend total.
  • On July 4, 2010 the MFCAL Champion will be announced! Happy 4th of July!
  • The MFCAL champion will be awarded a MFCAL trophy, free gold membership in the following year to the MFCA and a free 2 night’s stay at the MFCA convention hotel. In addition, the MFCAL champion earns an automatic spot in the new Coaches Points Challenge Championship game to be played in Canton, Ohio on Sunday, August 8, 2010. The winner of this game will be awarded a custom one of a kind MFCAL championship ring with your name and team colors valued at $500.00 or more. (I will have photos of the ring in the near future.)
  • Details on the rules and weight limit for the Coaches Points Challenge Championship Game will be determined by the Board of Directors and will be announced.

I can certainly relate Lynn. I agree wholeheartedly. We also have to realize that we may have to go through many to get to the select few.

Another way to make some buzz around MF : the websites dedicated to miniatures modelling and wargames :

http://theminiaturespage.com/

http://www.coolminiornot.com/

these websites are wellknown and have a lot of web trafic on it. Perhaps it could be a method to give a little more light to MF, by the modelling side of it.
