![]() My name is Eric and I run Random Encounters, a new game company.
We have just released our first game: 12 Men on the Field: Deluxe Edition. I was watching my Bucs (Central Florida resident here since 1998) last season and it dawned on me... hey, I can simulate a football game with dice. Not just simulate a run or a pass but broken tackles, sacks, interceptions, the quarterback hitting an outlet receiver with pressure in his face, fake kicks, 2 point conversions... Not only that but I included rules to simulate an entire season of the league with 24 teams. I like my divisional standings and I like to see them change every week. My first pro stadium experience was in the no-longer-with-us Kingdom in Seattle. I was there for the Seahawks first game and just about every home game for the next 10 years. I thank my dad for that. Now I am a Bucs fan (our sister team as they entered the league in 1976 as well) and after Dungy was let go (only to win the big one in Indy) and the Gruden experiment (that's what I call it) we now have rookies running the team from the coaches on down. They'll either sink or soar... I just hope it is the later! Anyway, on to details. From my Lulu book site: 12 Men on the Field is a table top game of American football! You roll dice (12 sided dice of course), conduct kickoffs,... More > running plays, passing plays, groan at the fumbles, cheer as your receiver reaches the end zone... You can play one-off or "pre-season" games or you can play a full blown 14 game season! The IFL has 24 teams to choose from or swap one out for one of your own! You are the owner, it's your team. 12 Men on the Field: Deluxe Edition contains both the Zeppelin Edition and Sideline Edition. Two great ways to play American Football. IMPORTANT! The Deluxe Edition requires the Official Field of Play, available at www.cafepress.com/rem12 The Official Field of play is a 35" x 23" glossy poster with play and penalty rules on it for easy reference. The book (available as a hard back or pdf download) details the rules and introduces the International Football League (totally fictitious) with 24 teams as well as the IFL Network and it's three broadcasters who lend their insight and wit to the rule book. Below are the links: company home page: http://randomencounters.net/ blog: http://powerof12.wordpress.com/ book on lulu: http://stores.lulu.com/store.php?fAcctID=40311357 Official Field of Play: http://www.cafepress.com/rem12 Two players can engage in some football or you can play solitaire by just using the Zeppelin Edition rules. You can simulate the rest of the games using tables included to generate scores by quarter, yardage and other stats for the games that you don't play. I'll be watching this thread in case anyone has questions or you can e-mail me at info@randomencounters.net. Through the end of April there are two discounts that Lulu is offering that will make the hardcover edition cheaper. Enter the code “FREEMAIL305″ on checkout and save $3.99 in shipping. You can get 10% off the hardcover book of 12 Men on the Field: Deluxe Edition. Just enter the code, “SHOWERS” at checkout. I do not know if these codes can be used together or not. A couple of options to save some cash. Thanks for reading this far down on the post and I hope to hear from you. Last edited by RandomEncounters : 04-21-2010 at 04:00 PM. ![]() I just wanted to let everyone know that I gave Eric permission to post this item up as aspects of his game could be beneficial to solitaire coaches and it is also interesting as a stand alone game.

![]() On our website, http://randomenconters.net, we have posted the 2009 standings and playoffs for the IFL.
Just adding a bit of the history from this 53 year old professional football league! I am working on the IFL draft as well for the upcoming year. I can tell you that Baton Rouge has the first pick and a young quarterback from Missouri named Chad Gilbert is rumored to be on the top of their board... Who is Chad Gilbert? All in good time. |
