It does not compute.....
How is it that the current #1 team in the nation, Alabama, is a 10 point underdog to the number #4 team???
 How can Oklahoma be ranked over Texas, a team that beat them on a NEUTRAL field???? This bowl system is a complete joke, if we are to use this biased system, at least let us have a playoff with the top eight teams!  They say, it will be decided on the field, but how can that be when a team like Texas is being left out. let the top eight team decide it.  This would generate 10 times more money than the bowls do.  ...........after all isn't this whole thing about the money anyway, ...........don't give me that crap about the student athlete, ................division II and division III team are having their playoffs now.....and they are student athletes too! totally inconsistent.

i totally agree!
the bcs was supposedly put into place to AVOID these situations. as it is, the associated press (one of the major polls) still recognizes their own national champion. the harris poll (a market research company that specializes in Internet research.*) was put in place to replace the ap. the coaches poll (aka the usa today poll) is a joke. nothing has changed. it is still the same mess that college football had 10, 15, 20 years ago before the bcs existed. the only hope that us college football fans have now is the fact that espn has bought the rights to all of the bowl games, except for the rose bowl, which abc has the rights (abc and espn are both owned by the walt disney company). with all of the bowls under one "roof", a lot of arguments over rights and ownership of this and that are gone. the only problem, this does not start until 2011. *taken from wikipedia:o

The only way the NCAA will ever change is if an entire conference or several conferences (Say, the Pac-10 and the Big-10) come out and say " Due to the ridiculous system currently in place where the NCAA championship is determined by the opinions of a select few indivisuals as to who the best team in the country is, we will no longer participate in any bowl games until a play-off system is installed to determine an actual champion."
 If enough schools would muster up the guts and stick together, you would see a playoff system in place next year.

The system won't be changed for a few more years (if ever)
BCS officials have said they have tweaked this system as much as it will be tweaked, and are happy with it. The solution is really simple: WIN EVERY GAME, AND (unless you are Utah, Boise State, or Ball State for example) YOU WILL BE THE UNDISPUTED NATIONAL CHAMPION. Oh, Ball State lost to a Buffalo team? Forget Ball State then.
When great teams like Florida, USC, Oklahoma, Penn State, Georgia, Alabama, and especially Texas (insert PUKE) ALL lose a game along the way, this is the mess we get. The Sooners and Gators are playing the best of all these teams right now, and have survived the wars to get where we are now. You all might not like it, but it's just the way it is. Heck, just put the 2 undefeated teams in the National Championship then and everyone can just shut the H*** UP!
