Default New here from Down Under

Hi Coaches

From Australia and just stumbled on this hobbie , want to make a board to play on and saw some of the boards for sale but I think postage to Australia would be a bomb .

Does anyone here from Australia, love football and growing to love this.

Brett

Default Bloke Is Cool

In case some of you don't know, "bloke" is a British slang term meaning man or guy. It's like saying dude. Take a look at this link.

Welcome Aboard!!!

What can you tell me about Australian Rules Football? Are there differences between that and American Football? I know our punter, Dan Sepulveda, has played or at least knows Australian Rules.

I say our because I AM BLACK AND GOLD BORN, BLACK AND GOLD BRED, AND WHEN I DIE I'LL BE BLACK AND GOLD DEAD!!!

Crikey mate...it's awesome to have some one from down under on the forum. How's the weather?
I guess we better add some koala's or crocodile logos to the smiley options!

Thanks all

Aussie Rules football is very different to American. In Aussie rules if someone kicks the ball and some one can catch it on the full than a "mark" is awarded and play pauses until the ball is kicked, passed (by hitting it with your fist) or running. If the ball is kicked between the big posts than 6 points is awarded if it goes through the littler posts 1 point is awarded

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_hqosNvv5E here is the promo video for the AFL.

I live in New South Wales so don't really follow that sport. In the Northern parts of Australia Aussie Rules players are viewed as a girlie lot and real men play rugby league.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tlRXncuqpc video of tries and big hits, rugby league is also known by rugby players as poor mans rugby in Australia.

However the weird thing is of the lot, soccer and American Football players are the most girlie known in Australia. Now this is were I get a bit . Having played Rugby League, Aussie Rules and Soccer and what may be a shock to you blokes across the pond American Football (UWS Outlaws). I find American Football the best with soccer a close second in my book. American Football because of the (I found) pads you tend to hit harder. The contact in American football is a lot harder than both AFL and NRL, plus you get the technical side like soccer all wrapped into one game. I LOVE IT, I think that is why finding this website and others has me hooked on EF and wanting more.
