![]() Hey Corey,
I like where you were going on your reply to Mark regarding the out-of-the-bag tweak competition. I mentioned this to someone several months ago. I think we all can get a lot more out of seeing the tweakers in action. Enough of the finished product stuff already. I am sure newbies and veteran coaches alike would LEARN a great deal from this type of competition. This would be a competition in its rawest purest form and many would benefit. This type of competition should also be recorded and shared to all. I love this idea, man. Off course, strength and speed would be two of the categories, but the competition does not have to be limited to just these two categories. What do you coaches think about this idea? -Adrian- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() This has been on the MFCA radar since we started the idea of a skills competition (it might of been me you mentioned it to, Adrian). Check the link below. I would love to see this happen and I think people would get a great education in tweaking just by watching what happens. We may discover some unknown tweaking talents out there.
I wonder if the tweakers who do this as a business would participate though. They would potentially risk some of their business if they were to lose. I would love to hear more from all on this. Corey, your now in charge of setting this up and promoting it for Canton next year... ![]() http://www.miniaturefootball.org/sit...fm?pageID=1269 Quote from the MFCA site: "Future events will also include Painting and Customizing as well as the first time ever National Event, "The Great MFCA Tweak Off"!"

![]() I would take part in something like this. Seems to me the hobby as a whole would benefit. If coaches are better at tweaking for thier own team, than the ability to stay competitive without spending money on bases would allow them to possibly travel to tournaments with that money. Thus the turn out at the bigger events continues to grow. Lets face it to be competitve at these events you either have to tweak bases, or buy tweaked bases. If more people know how to do this it will be better for all of us involved.

![]() I make a suggestion, and now I have a job!?!???? Thanks Adrian. When the Prez tell you to work on something, you better work on something. Wolf has secret service guys everywhere who will take you out in a blink of an eye.
Wolf, we can get something together for our Canton convention. We have alot of time to work on this project. The main thing is having the tweakers in the building for the convention. First thing, I don't want to take away from Mark. This was his idea, and hope the big name tweakers help him out with his project!!!! My vision was to have these guys sitting with their tools. I'm not sure if they should have their own board, or all be at 1 board. Next thing would be the different bases. Out of the bag, who can tweak the best Pro line flat, rounded. F5, Brown base, the Miggle tourney bases, ect, ect. No switching dials. Just the base and dial that comes with the base. Maybe have a freestyle round at the end. Maybe use a clock for the time to tweak. They have 1 practice run to see if they should make any last minute adjustments. Then after that, their bases has to fend for themselves. That's some of what I had in mind, if anyone wants to add to it, let's hear your idea!!!If Mark Robin will be in the house, he can help ref this event. All contestants should be members!!! "The MFCA Great Tweak Off" is born!!!!!!! Can I get a witness?????????? NATIONAL

![]() Man Corey, I had some of the same thoughts dude. I was thinking of it being handled in one of two ways. In each case, my examples consist of an arbitrary number of twelve participants.
The person running the event would place 12 untweaked TTC bases in a bag. Each coach would pull one base out of the bag to tweak using their own tools. (1) Maybe have two F5s, two Pro-line Straight Strong, two Pro-line Rounded Strong, two Miggle Orange, two Brown TTCs and two Frosties. OR (2) Have several divisions and in the case of twelve participants, each coach will have a chance to tweak all bases used in the competition. So, that means 12 F5s would be one division, 12 Brown TTCs would be another division, etc… Each participant should be provided the same type of unpainted figure to compete with. Maybe a Haiti Repro Tackle, Wide-Arm or 67 Wide-Arm figure. The winners of each division would compete against one another to determine who will be the ultimate strongest on the spot base tweaker. Of course a time limit will be needed. Lets say somewhere around 5 or 10 minutes max. While you are testing you can be allowed to test it against one of your own previously tweaked bases. If that’s not acceptable, the coaches will need to use something as a gauge. Maybe have two coaches tweak on the same field, but have the actual competition on a board that was not used by any of the participants. OR Have one coach per table and then have the first 6 coaches compete against each other. And after that’s finished have the second set of six coaches compete. The winner of the first round would go against the winner of the second round. Have all of the tables lined-up long ways touching each other. If it is one coach per table/field, then all coaches would sit on the same side of the tables/boards. That way it will be easy to view auto-focus and record the masters at their craft. There is no second try. What you end-up with at the end of the allotted time frame is what you use to compete. I know I left-out some things, but maybe some of the above will be considered. -Adrian- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() CorEy, its not taking away from me, you guys ideas are awesome. mine is more for the individual to spend some time on doing only one base and send it in at their leisure. i just wanted all the pertinant info to come with the base. there are way more guys tweaking than show up on this board, believe me, heck two of the best bases i ever got were from guys who rarely, if ever even post here. my contest(with no prize) is different than most, as i will judge the bases each month for a year, there is no way to do that in a group sitdown and tweak, i like both ideas. thanks.
