You are wrong Phil ! Franco did not catch that pass . That is why I refer to that play as the immaculate deception !

Great replay!
Your replay clearly shows that the ball hit the receiver before Franco's catch.
I can never forget this play and good or bad it is part of NFL history. Thank you for the memories gone but not forgotten.

Yeah Thanks
Yeah Guttmann! Thank you SOOOOOO much for the reminder. Of course I wasn't even born when that play happened but I've seen highlights. I even have an autographed photo of Harris to me where all he put was Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha and then signed his name.

Worked with Frenchy
Until he retired after his wife passed. I worked with the Detroit News agency for 15 years with him. Even when drunk he wouldn't tell if he touched the ball.
For those of you who don't know, back then it was illegal to catch a ball that was tipped by an offensive player. Therefore, the play would have been incomplete, game over, no dynasty possibly.

The Steelers actually lost their next game against the Miami Dolphins but it sure gave them a lot of confidence going into the next year.
