Default JOHNSON FATHER SON LEAGUE OPENING WEEK

The first game of the Johnson father and son MFL kicked off tonight. Our league will officially be called the Palatine Father Son MF League.
The conferences are broken up in to 6 teams each. WEST CONFERENCE, Aric and NORTH CONFERENCE, me…Cool AJ.
West Conference teams consist of STEELERS, CHIEFS, SEAHAWKS, JAGUARS, CARDINALS, BENGALS.
North Conference teams are BEARS, PACKERS, COLTS, RAIDERS, CHARGES, DOLPHINS.
When playing our inter conference games we get to choose which team we want to be so the other coach gets to be the spoiler.

Because Aric is 5 Im keeping this really really simple but we are having a blast.
We play one drive per team. The most yards win and TD’s are auto 7 points. If both teams score, one play from 50 for overtime. If no positive yards in overtime it’s a tie.

The team that wins the coin toss is at an advantage because they get the kickoff and the runner starts off with no time counted off.
The drive ends on turn over on downs or scoring at TD. No punts. The objective is to use as many plays as possible to get as many yards.
This is also an all run league.
We use front of base tackle.

The season kicked off with the Steelers(Aric) vs the Bears(AJ)
The Steelers won the coin toss and got the KO.
#32 for the Steelers opened up with a 29 yard run.
The Steelers took an impressive 10 yard drive to score on a 26 yard run by #20.
Since the Steelers scored the Bears got the KO but #40 got hung up at the 10 yard line.
The Steel curtain was vicious until #80 took a hole up the middle for an 81 yrd run to tie the game 7-7.
In overtime #20 for the Steelers only managed to get 4 yards.
But that would be all they needed as the curtain shut down the Bears #80 for a 2 yard run.
Steelers in overtime 7-7(104 yds to 102 yds)

Next game Packers(AJ) vs Chiefs(Aric)

It really is a lot of fun...I felt the pressure when my son went up 7-0 and he let me know i wasnt scoring..LOL

We keep stats too....the season is 6 games long....
I just keep yrds, td's and tackles....

We plan on having an 8-16 team college league as well with some GREAT tweaked bases from all over the country. From that we will draft for the weaker Pro teams.
The college league will just be a one game elimination tournament.

I did this as a kid and remembered I had so much fun drafting and then seeing my rookies tear up the league.

Its well worth it if your kids love the game but just dont have the long game patience....
