Best bases to invest in today | Rookie coach wants to know

Ok I'm totally new to customizing/tweaking and all of that. So new that I haven't gotten any of the tools I've seen suggested on this site yet...the flat nose pliers, flat finger-nail clippers. I got some good lighters and a candle warmer(wifes) and an empty tackle-box so I'm well on my way...but what I really want to know is what bases should I invest in. I'm assuming I don't want to have a full team of just rookie bases. I imagine I'll be buying two or three base styles and creating a powerful lineup from multiple types. Could somebody help me breakdown if I need certain bases for certain positions. Remember I'm new, and I don't know abreviations yet, so please list full names of bases. Like I really don't know what an ITZ base or if that's even the right name for a base lol. Thanks.

Well....

You need some 1st or 2nd run Proline rookie bases....the ones for strength with the thick prongs. Stable with even the biggest custom figures...they can compensate for the lack of balance on certain figures. They can be easily tweaked for speed and strength. Awesome bases. I like these for some of my skill positions and some of my DB's. My second choice would be the excellent Buzzball TTC bases that he just released. The dials are not worth much....but they perform well as rookie bases. I haven't got a lot of strength out of these, but they do give speed pretty easily. Both of these bases can be tweaked for top-notch loopers as well!

Old wide top TTC bases. Harder to get these days and pricey. Ask Norbert Revels about them. He tweaks them really well for speed. Very stable platforms. I like them for linebacker, safety and even running back. Having a dial gives you more versatility.

Inserting the Proline strength dials (with the double set of thick prongs) into another shell can give very strong bases. Good for your front lines, both offense and defense.

A couple boat style bases are almost a must for your wide receivers. As usual, the best ones are out of production. I like the old Proline boats and the old Munro boat bases with dials. The Munro bases are nifty, since they only have prongs on the dial and give you full directional control....just like when you put ITZ dials into another shell.

ITZ dials are great too. Once you figure out how to use and tweak them, they can be used on virtually any figure for the ultimate in versatility. They are not gonna' give you super strength though. If you use them on your lines, you will be looking for finesse.

Finally....for the ultimate in speed, get some Buzzball speed diamonds (white R/L repro or black seem to be best for me). The old out of production Tudor R/L bases are also very good. Now...these don't seem to work as well on boards with heavy vibration....unless you weight them down and use balanced figures. The Miggle WR figure is a good performer on these bases.

There are many more bases that are useful....and this thread could go on forever....because it is a combination of the proper figure with the proper base and the proper tweaking that make it work.

Greetings to you my friend. I don't want to confuse with too much information regarding bases so I will do my best to make this simple. My suggestion would be to order a set of Orange, Polo Green, and Teal speed bases from Miggle along with a set of Proline bases. Just for your information when you order the Orange, Polo Green, and Teal bases you will receive 12 Rookie and 12 TTC bases. On a few occasions some of the Polo Green rookie bases have had decent speed right out of the box without any tweaking.
