Default ONE AND TWO TIGHT END SET PLAY'S

ANT/JIMBO

TE END PLAY QUESH

SCENARIO 1

Qb is in a shotgun in a 2 TE set. You let the defensive coach know to release your TE' S. You have the TE'S bases on backwards during the snap so they both end up behind the line of scrim. You angle the TE on the left outward to block. You angle the TE on the right going in the same direction as the TE on the left. During the next stop the TE is going to cross in behind the center and in front of the qb. HOW DOES THE QB EXECUTE A SHOVEL PASS TO THE TE. I know the base length rules. Mind you, the TE has to cross in front of the qb first before you can do anything.

IM JUST TRYING TO FIGURE OUT AT WHAT POINT DOES THE OFFENSE HAVE TO LET THE DEFENSE KNOW IT WAS A SHOVEL PASS. (DO YOU JUST PLACE A BALL ON HIS BASE AND SAY NOTHING ? Do you need the 3yard stick ?

just curious on how this shakes out

thanx

1. If your TEs are going backwards at the snap (start of the play), then they probably won't be engaged and you won't have to then tell the Defense to release them.

2. IF your TE crosses in front of the QB or at least within 3yds of the QB, I believe it's an auto-complete and you would simply place a ball on that TE or if he already has a ball attached to his figure, then you would have to declare him as the ball carrier.

3. In order to make all this happen, your OL must hold their blocks; a smart Coach may see your bases on backwards and follow them into the backfield; QB protection is key, so maybe a max protect with 2 RBs.

4. If you've seen it on TV (or Madden NFL video game) then it can be done!!!

Default T.E. counter

another variation is to run the T.E. counter.Have one side of the line block down including the tight end.Pull your backside guard, fill the rb at the area your TE is leaving because he is getting the ball and this prevents leakage.this will cut off a backside end/OLB.then have you TE read the kick out of the guard on the different stoppages.an option to this is to have your QB keep it and go the opposite way or throw it.that is the zone read for the QB if the end comes crashing down hard and ignores him.you can also hit the RB in the flats since he is filling backside.Take what the defense gives you--STT.Vince Young use to kills defenses when he was at Texas with th zone scheme.
