How to paint the Packers' pants
I'm just about ready to start painting. Got all my figures primed with Ceramcoat Sealer.
I have a question about how to proceed to paint the pants. We have yellow, green and white. Should I paint the pants all yellow first, then add the stripes? OR Paint white stripes down each side, then the yellow pants? The first one makes more sense, but will the white cover the yellow? |

Some would say...
1. Paint the pants yellow.
2. Paint a wide green stripe on each leg. 3. Then, with a thinner brush paint the white stripe down the middle of the green. |

I'm with Artlax. I always have several different size brushes so that I can paint a wide green stripe, then a thin white stripe inside of it. Also, I always have 2 of each size so that I can have one brush for colors, and the other one for whites and yellows. Less chance of colors bleeding into your whites that way.....

Wish I coulda posted before you started. I recently tried something that works rather well. I normally paint as they mentioned, pant color then stripes. I tried painting the middle stripe first, then the 2 stripes outside of it, then the pants color. What I found was better lines. What would happen the other way is the middle stripe would be wider in spots, narrower in others. The new way I tried I only had to worry about 1 edge of the brush and the line it was making, not both edges. The pant strpies came out alot better. If anyone else tries it, let me know how it did.

I may save the pant and helmet striping for last. I think today, when I get home from work, I'll work on the shirts.
With the yellow armband area, should I paint that first before painting the green, or should I paint the whole shirt green, then add the shirt stripes later? |

I now have dark color offense and white color defense. These are not spectacularly perfect looking and certainly wouldn't win any awards, but they're my creation and they look pretty darn good considering this is my first attempt.
I'll have to touch up a few spots and even up some lines before I start "striping". |

Keep up the painting, Vince, and don't forget to post pics when you're done. Here's my Bart Star to keep you motivated.

After floundering all weekend with the shirt stripes, I've conceded and decided to purchase Beenutt's decals for my 96 Packers.
I did ok with the pants and helmet stripes, but the 5 stripes on the 96 dark jerseys are killing me. Just can't get it that detailed with the room on the figure. I kept painting and repainting stripes trying to find different ways to to get the stripes right, but I just couldn't do it. So now I'll be going back and paint the dark jerseys all green. There's still hope for the white jerseys though. |
