Default 2009 draft, you're on the clock Detroit Lions

OK guys, let's have a little fun. You're the Detroit Lions and you are on the clock. Who do you take with the first pick? NOT, who do you think they will pick, who do you think they need to pick? This oughta be fun, let's go through them 1 by 1 and see what we come up with.

I'm going with Rey Maualuga slightly over Aaron Curry. Yes, they need a QB, but I'm waiting til next year when you have more to choose from, Tebow, Bradford, McCoy. Doesn't matter who they go with this year, they will have a top pick next year, too. I would go all defense in this draft.

You're on the clock til Wed night. Rams on deck.

I have participated in posts like this in the past. As a matter of fact I started a similar post a few years ago. With Matt Millen gone hopefully the Lions will get it right. A team like the Lions need to do like Miami and that is build a team from INSIDE out. You made a good pick in that Detroit needs to start blue collar. Your pick would be my pick on defense. However, I am going offense and selecting guard Duke Robinson from Oklahoma who was considered the best guard in the country. The negative on that pick is his level of competition in the Big 12.

Tomkat,

I say that it would be safe to say that they will not be drafting a wide receiver with their pick.

not a lock, Wally

I am not that familiar with all the talent that is coming out, but they should draft a linemen for either side of the ball.......

I'm a Lions fan, and I will never rule out the fact they could take a reciever, or......trade the pick to San Fran for a kicker.

That being said, they need to take a less "glamorous" pick for a change and start with defense. I can see them grabbing a QB out of panick, but honestly...this is not a very good QB draft anyway.

Pick: Rey Maualuga. Flies around the field and comes from a place where he knows how to win.

Not so fast Wally. Didn't they draft Calvin Johnson and Roy Williams in back-to-back years?
