Default Field Covers

I've seen a number of posts bragging about their new custom field covers (and they look incredible...BTW)...and they seem to be produced by a variety of people.

1- What are the field covers made of?
2- Are they magnetic?
3- Do they affect the speed/vibration/noise?
4- Are they removable?
5- How durable are they?
6- How much?
7- What are the differences between the one's Raiderman makes vs Wierdwolf/Kansas Bill vs what Decal Master is planning to unveil?

I think I would love to order a couple but I need some input!!!

KT, the only covers I've seen are the Wolf/Bill ones that they made for me and a couple of the Kistner ones from Miggle. The ones I have are a thin vinyl and stick to the board by the adhesive that's on the back of them. These covers are the prototype material that Bill was trying out. The adhesive is a little too strong for constantly taking the cover off and on, but that's ok by me. Each of my Alternate League teams will be getting it's own board w/cover, so once I put the cover on, it's there to stay! I haven't had them long enough to rate their durability, but I would have to say that as long as you're carefull, they will last longer than you will.

As far as play goes, I've done a few games with the Sasquatch field and am quite pleased. The vibrations are smooth and consistant. Without the cover I had to turn the volumn down whenever I got close to the endzone where the motor is so that the players wouldn't fall over. With the cover, I can set the speed and leave it alone no matter where the game is taking place. I haven't had the chance to play any games with the other 2 covers, but don't expect them to perform any differently. I believe the Miggle ones are also adhesive, but not as strong and can be removed several times without affecting them. Again, from what I've been told the covers help smooth out the vibrations. I have no experience with any magnetic covers.

As far as cost goes, you'ld need to contact them. I believe the Miggle ones are $70 or thereabouts

DB,

I would tell you to go straight to the source to get that info to avoid confusion and mis-information. You know I'm not about to talk so don't ask but I can tell you that they will be the very best they can be and will be rolling off the press in about three weeks. I haven't seen the covers of the other artists but I'm sure they are very nice.

I have seen Kisner's covers but out of respect I won't say what they are made of. But yes, I'd say that you should go directly to the source.

The field covers we supplied for Al were a vinyl type with a clear type of coat on top.. They are not magnetic.. They did cut down on the noise, but they did not smother the motor.. (as some will do).. The ones we do, for all practical purposes.. are NOT removable.. I'd say they'd outlast us all as well.
And to be honest.. With me having to use "another source" to get them made, AND I don't do the artwork.. We've really just done them for ourselves in the Tornado Alley.. Then Al and Weirdwolf have done some bartering along the way.. and that's how we ended up doing Al's..

I've heard good things about Raiderman and George Diamonds field covers. I don't think they use the same material as we do.. And I think Weirdwolf does a fantastic job with his artwork.

And from what I've seen.. Decal Master has made a significant investment to produce his own field covers.. And in doing so, he has options in finding the best ink, best materials, best durability, etc...

Granted.. We are happy with the results we have had with our field covers.. But if I was entirely happy I would have put field covers for sale on the Tornado Alley EFS site. (they aren't there) There was some hit and miss in there as well. (And I have them in my EF room to prove it.. lol)
