guys in my leauge you can let the QB drop back to pass up to 15 yards....and if no recivers are open turn him around and let him run....allowing one more stop to pass before he hits the line of scrimmage...if an reciver breaks open,,,do you allow this what are your thoughts on useing an running QB

Brian,
I would give a time limit for your QB to throw (somewhere between 5 and 10 seconds). If the time runs out, you can then let him run the ball by pivoting the qb and the defenders that are not engaged (or you can let him run by not pivoting anyone including the QB). I wouldn't let the QB have another stop to throw before he hits the line of scrimmage. I think that is too many opportunities to throw and puts the defense at a big disadvantage. beenutt

Good topic. The way my nephews and I play is that the QB can throw a pass at anytime as long as he is behind the line of scrimmage. But the defense can pivot players also whenever the board is turned off for passing decisions or option plays. Most of the time the QB drops back, scans the field and if no one is open he will have to run because the defense is putting alot of pressure on him.

i forgot
i forgot to say that when the board stops play to turn the QB around or to stop a second time...the defense gets to turn any unengaged players to go after the QB.........

I use my QB doing a varity of things on a play. I might have him drop back with a slight roll out (drop back distance comes quick) to buy some extra time for a play to develop..... sometimes it's a straight rollout where I just want out the burning house and will keep it on the bottleg.... Sometimes in the shotgun and running forward until he has to keep it (when 'pushing' against OLine)..... sometimes he will be sitting in the pocket waiting for something to happen.... |

How about stoppages throughout the play so that you can direct ALL of your figures, design real football plays, and execute the competition of the game at another level?
Perhaps the EF community will finally catch on a realize that what they have been searching for in terms of a new and realistic pro football simulation is already here. Perhaps I should dig up my old joystick posts from last Fall for another go 'round. The interesting thing is that eventually [perhaps years from now] the hobby will eventually evolve into the MPF style as coaches continue to ask question such as the question you are asking about the quarterback mobility.
