Question Trivia Questions #511:"When do you feel comfortable painting teams, tweaking bases,

Norb said it best to me he said something to the affect that "there exist a degree of pride when you create an athlete that follows assignment" not perfectly quoted but that inspired me to created Doug Williams led BAM 08. I have partialy painted some custom figs and sent them to the "Master Painters" to finish up...but I tried This is a question for our "TweakMasters" "Master Painters" "Custom Figures" as well as rookies. "When did you know you were ready and what led you to "paint teams, tweak bases, customize"?

I remember just hoping for some athletes in the pile of bases that would move without dimes or pennies attached The "Howards" our neighborhoods arch nemesis was a family of EF'rs who knew about base tweaking, painting teams in the 80's. We would go to their house 5-10 coaches strong and play all day....but they had speed, power and towels glued on their players and the whole dang family could Coach.

I was clueless to tweaking then and recently I ran into one of the brothers named "Moo Moo" he mentioned interest of playing in a pro EF league. I began to tell him about what they do with bases etc....he responded "we was doing that years ago" and began to tell some "Howard family secrets" Now wonder they were so dang good

I was thinking that that would have motivated me to start tweaking...back then if I only knew Today I just want to increase my knowledge of the game and painting teams, tweaking and coaching is a part of it.

Thumbs up They were tweaking with lighters and pliers back then...

our crew just added pennies and dimes we knew nothing about tweaking for any type of performance. I still see that sam mindset at times in myself when I play...they used wr's and hit them...we kicked the QB off of the squad and ran...ran...ran We are in a whole new level of revolution in EF....it is beyond what we could of visioned then....the funny thing is he was intimidated by the various rule sets and leagues. so as of now....he did not mention returning to the game and it's new style.

Default When did I know I was ready to start tweakin ?

And what led me to it ?

Well after getting stomped over 50 times in arow in scrimmages from my leaguemates in the GLEFL,..........after that last lost, I was driving home on the freeway ********ed off bigtime, I stopped at the local liqour store bought a half pint of henn, coke pop, ice, and a big red cup (smile), I sat at the kitchen table determined to learn how to tweak, I took out some bases and started tweaking, I remembered ALL the information I had read about on tweaking, I started, the very 1st base got put into the hospital qiuck, I still remember the popping off of the prong sound (smile), that guy was a goner, I grab another one, a widetop, I paid $5 each for about 10 of them, I killed them all, prongs layin everywhere, I poured another shot, it;s about 2am now and I am really getting upset now, I then grab a regular miggle polo TTC, turned on some john facenda stuff and went to work, I tweaked it for power (or I thought I was), I then put it up against some tweaked bases I had bought, right off the switch, 30 yards back the bought base went, I flipped out, I tryed it again with another base and the same thing happened, I was hooked ever since and never looked back.

Default I barely remember ....

..... I just know in order to have full enjoyment of the game, and to have a decent performing team, I had to learn how to tweak.

There was some guy back when base tweaking was hardly known, .......was tweaking speed bases, mainly old tudor rookie bases. I called the guy up and asked him to do some bases for me, ....................he said there was line of folks in front of me, ................and I had to wait about nine months.....

That's when I knew I had to learn for myself....and it was also the impetus for the repro r/l bases as I started the wheels in motion.

So I started grabbing bases and tweaking by trial an error.....like I said, ......tweaking is a skill that requires practice, practice, practice....
