Default Cleaner players

I am having trouble painting clean players with my apple barrel paints. Especially custom players. Here are a couple of pictures of some guys i painted up recently, they aren't completely done though. I have to untouched poses in my basement and they look really clean with the paint job. These guys look terrible, or at least they aren't at par of what I would like. I usually either paint right out of the bottle with a small brush, or squeeze a little out of the bottle and then I put delta ceramcoat acrylic thinner in and I stir. This still isn't working. Can anyone tell me what they do to prepare their paint and players so I can get better results? Also what can I do to improve my players?
Thanks, send a pm or just respond right here.

Michael,

You may want to try just washing them with soap and water first, and then you may want to just spray paint them with white paint to act as a primer.

I started using Testors white. Use Enamel if you plan on using Enamel paints and use Acrylic if you're using Acrylic paints.

You can mix them.

Hobbytown has it, if there is one near you. I use testors, they have the best dullcoat. I also use the Triple Thick Gloss spray now. A lot easier to use than the brush on.

If you can't find the Dullcoat spray, let me know, I'll look for you.

Default Finished with a player

Finished with a player using the tips you guys gave me. This is before the touch up stage so some lines aren't very dark at all. You also can't see the middle dot in the eye in these pics, but it is there. What can I do to touch my player up?
