Here's my critique
Taylor,
If was anyone else, I probably would not be this honest but I know you and you're one of my protege's so I will tell you so you can improve. Here goes: Let's start with the positives! I love the pose, as a matter of fact, I am gonna copy that pose. I would bring his head more upward. I like that he's looking at an on-coming defender. I love the stiff-arm technique. That's nice! I like the interesting platform colors. The upper torso does not look like it is clearly secured to the lower torso. If it is, I would use some type of protective pad in the rear to hide the flaw. I would turn the upper torso in just a little bit more to make him look like he's turning towards the defender. The left leg towards the knew pad needs to be smoothed out. I can still see hints of that on the pad as well as the hand that was in that spot. The paint job seems as though you were in a hurry! Take your time. Make your strokes even all the way around. You may want to do 2-3 coats. The definition will still show up so don't worry about that. There seems to be too much paint on the hands. I know you can hide that with a decal but it should have some definition to the hands. It's very apparent on the hand that has the football. Extend the pant leg stripe down to the sock on the left leg. I would suggest bringing the face mask strips in some. Another option is masking tape and spray white (semi-gloss). They may be too long. The decals seemed to be crinkling up, especially on the arm. Did you do the technique I showed you in the video? Look at the arm stripes closely and see that you can do better on this. The helmet logo is good. I would suggest painting the runner a color like "Burnt Sienna". African American players come in various shades of brown and it seems like you painted him black. Look closely at the skin tone on the player because this is a very important part of the customizing process. Overall, I know you've done much better work. I like the creativity but it just seemed that you were rushing yourself. You know you are much better than that. I expect you will read this and it will fire you up to just start over. However, use that model as a starting point and again, always start with the skin tone. Make sure you've go the right painting instruments. A couple of 18/0 Cornells and 10/0 and a flatbrush should suffice. Make sure you rinse the brushes after painting something. Again, we know each other pretty well so I want to give you an honest impression of what I saw. I hope this does not offend you in any manner. Reg |

It doesn't offend me at all, I like when people give me tips or when people criticize me, it means that they want me to get better, and that I am getting better. Thanks for the reply reg, I will try to do these things, I want my player to look good. And I did rush on the paint job, I wanted to get the pics up. I need to be more patient while painting.
Thanks, Taylor |
