Default The custom figure: The evolution is here!!!

Whether you spend out on Footballfigure.net, Megawattz, TVChaci's, Chris Robinson's, Larry Walker's, Scott Hooper's, JoelP's, Franny-J-Boys, Guttman's, or the many others who spend the laborious hours creating customs, it's a fact that the custom figure is here to stay.

On a recent trip to the BAM, I was greeted with teams that range from 67 Bigmen to custom figures from all the marvelous artist around the spectrum of miniature football. You've got so many guys to choose from or you can do it yourself.

Customizing DVDs are now available (at least thru FF.Net) that shows you many of the secrets to creating custom figures. Just a few years ago, custom figures were taboo in many leagues but with the groundswell of many, most leagues now allow them in abundance. There were various reason why the figures were not allowed but it must be noted that the custom figure has helped take the game to a totally different and improved level.

As we sat there playing with our miniature football players, kids and grown-ups alike came over and saw the incredible Oakland Raiders that Mozeek had. Or saw the great detail of Antoinio Jones's Titans. Easy impressions - "Not like the players we use to have".

In a wargamming convention in Austin, Texas, the involvement of a model stadium and the Dallas Cowboys brought a standing room only audience to a table displayed by myself, John Rowan and Michael Robertson.

The custom figure is not only an evolution phenomena but it can be one of the most functional and devastating players on a team. If you know what you're doing, the players can dominate a game at the 4.0 level. Because I work only with FF.Net players, I only can talk from that expertise level.

Now, any player in time can be created with great skill. A team of 100 different players can be re-created in a matter of hours. At one time, the plastic that my players were created from were heavily criticized but now, more and more customizers turn to these players because of the ease of "cutability" and there ability to be re-shaped.

I've done videos showing the methods and have done DVDs which shows a multitude of poses. From a calming effect, it is like a drug. Once you take it, you become hooked. Most customizers know what I am talking about. You see the creation come to life and you want to do more and more. It is definitely addicting. But most of all, it is here. And it is probably here to stay as long as you've got guys who want more than just the status quo of yesteryear.

Here's a re-work team of Cowboys all in custom poses. Just 3 stock poses in the lot for JskyWk1.
