The Building of the Purple People Eaters
Page, Eller, Larsen, Marshall, Hilgenberg, Siemon,Blair, Bobby Bryant, Krause, Nate Wright, and Jeff Wright!!! Just a few of the names of the Minnesota Vikings 1975-76 Super Bowl runnerup that lost to the Oakland Raiders!
This was probably the greatest team never to win the Lombardi and my favorite team of all time. They finished the season at 12-2 with the number 1 defense in the league and #1 offense! Shown below are the starting stages of the building of this team. This team will have 40 players with the anchor players being Alan Page, Chuck Foreman, and the entire defensive front 7. This team will have about 36 custom poses, created from scratch, and they will have black shoes on for the most part. I am not certain if I want the grass to be mud, snow, or vivid grass. It will be one of the nicer looking teams. I used a different purple, which is a slightly lighter (candy) shade than the usual purples that I use. Reg |

Grass
If you will allow me to make a suggestion, I would go with grass on the stand instead of mud or snow. Unless you intend to play them on a snow or mud field, go with some type of grass. So far they look good already.

This is...
...one of my all time favorite teams as well. They ended up losing to one of my other all time teams....the "RAY-DAS" of the '70's.
It would be interesting to see them done in a snow environment. Treat them like Bud Grant and make 'em play in the cold with no long sleeves or thermal under gear. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Here's the Defense: The Purple Gang/Purplepeople Eaters
I used like a grape instead of Royal Violet that I use for circa 2009 Vikes. I remember having a set of these in this color. It will become more noticebale when I put the offense on here.

Awesome... I see you decided to go with Oscar Reed at full back instead of Ed Marinaro. Great team

Oscar Reed is Personal
Taylor,
Really, on this team, neither Ed Marinaro or Oscar Reed was really on. Brent McClannahan was really the other runner. I will have Brent on the team and starting. But I just wanted Oscar Reed on because I use to see him in the offseason at his house back in Memphis. This team will have 40 players and I can't wait to base this team up! The uniform is very traditional and I love it much better than the current day look of the Vikings. I am definitely having a great time doing what I am doing and it's this going back in time and remembering players from yore that is fueling this energy. But Heidi's Vikes are my favorite football franchise (besides the Vols) so I will be doing so much customizing with this team, it will not be funny. I will create the old "Met" so I can play their games out on the snow. Reg |

Vikings Colors
Reggie,
I am glad that you posted your Vikings. It made me think about their colors. I don’t know if anybody noticed; last Monday night did the Vikings jersey look sort of blue? The helmet was dark purple. I have a picture of Chester Taylor. His helmet, stripes, and numbers looked violet. I think they either have multiple uniforms or their colors react to light. What do you think?
