The Building of Lombardi's Packers:The 1967 Version
Just got up at 12:30 this morning after Jim Jackson takes it upon himself to wake me up! I try to call Jim minutes later and of course, he's not answering so what does that mean? He's sleep and because I am an insomniac, I can't go back to sleep!
So what's a guy to do? CUSTOMIZE!!! I know one of the remaining teams left to do is the Packers of Lombardi. I start off with regular poses and decide, I want to make them look a little more powerful. So what's the thinking. Take the most dominate player I have and alter him from his stock pose. Reggie White, or the Minister of Defense pose! I turn 4 of those into 3-pt linemen. This is a new 3-pt lineman for myself as I never experimented with him. Now, I can take that pose easily within seconds along with an LT extended arm and turn him into one of the most intimidating down linemen that I do. So now, I've got the traditional line. But I know this team of Packers ran the power sweep. So I create two smooth looking backs from standard poses and turn them into Taylor and Hornung. The QB, Bart Starr, must then be looked to handing the ball off. So I take the sprinter pose and an LT extension arm. Cut the helmet off to look the ball in towards the runner and this is what I got! The 1967 Green Bay Packers power sweep. The defense will have about 3-4 custom players but no need for re0inventing the wheel when the stock poses will suffice. |

Finished all the custom poses, painting, grass, etc
Here's the progression of the 66-67 Packers. They are now starting to come to life with some of the most dynamic poses to date. The Jim Taylor pose is great and I love the Nitschke pose. I even like the Willie Davis and Lionel Aldridge pose. Bart Starr is handing off and its giving me chills!

It's Great Going Back In Time
to the 66-67 Packers. This team went like 12-2-0 that season and Lombardi was in his prime. I am about 80% finished with these 22 players. Much touch up work has to be done and the famous "G" has to be placed on the helmet.
However, I just wanted to show Kramer and Thurston pulling on this play, leading Taylor on a power sweep. This was their "bread and butter". Taylor averaged about 3.7 yds/attempt which means, out Pack will be doing a lot of power sweeps! |

The Packer Sweep
That Packer sweep looks tight. The best part of it is the pulling guard.

Do you ever play with these figures or are they just for looks? They sure look great, but how functional are they? Just curious.
