Default Tungsten Putty

OK, I haven't tried this, but after our Pinewood Derby races yesterday (2nd in class, 4th overall finish, a trophy and 2 medals) I was looking at all the weighting systems that guys used. Checking online, I found this as well as many other sets of weights. Seems like a perfect fit for our hobby and a way to standardize weighting of bases, without using toxic, magnetic or lead substances.

Tungsten is the world's 4th heaviest metal. It weighs up to 1.8x as much as lead and over 3x the weight of the Zinc/Pewter weights available through the Scout Shops and Hobby Shops. Tungsten is a safe non-toxic metal and it takes up less space under a platform or base.

Thoughts, anyone tried this stuff.

Very interesting. I'm also a h0 scale slot car racer (and 1/32 too, but I prefer h0 scale), and I like magnetless racing...so that stuff should be very interesting for additional weight or chassis modification.

For MF, I can see the advantage of it too, to add base weight with a lot of precision, without disturbing the prongs' work. I think especially for "exotic" custom poses, where the gravity centers are not very balanced.

Thanks for the info

EDIT : WOW ! I just took a look on "pinewood" racing stuff...

I didn't know that type of racing ! Or to be more specific, I knew the diecast cars on plastic tracks, but not that cool and ecologic way of making drag racing ! It's the perfect spring/summer hobby

I have to find infos on that

Default Tungsten Tape

How about Tungsten Tape!?! Here is a link to buy some online.

http://www.golfstuffcheaper.com/flexweights.html

Here is a link for lead-tape (the PERFECT SIZE, 1/2" wide fits perfectly under the width of the figure's platforms or on the top of a base).

http://www.golfsmith.com/products/90..._Lead_Tape_1/2

Remember you should wash your hands after using the lead tape. With lead-tape, once you can fit it under the platform of the figure you can seal it with paint or brush on clearcoats if you are concerned about handling of the figure in the future (ie when switching bases, etc).
