PAC-10 rules
A small gathering, but a good time. I think rules discussions work better in the small group setting anyway! There were some changes and compromises.
Here is a brief rundown: 12 game season in PAC-10 CBSMF. You must play 12 games to qualify for the tournament at the end. There are game days scheduled for each month, beginning in March. You have to complete 5 games by the end of the May game day to continue with the PAC-10 and it is also a qualifier for the tournament. Every PAC-10 team must play each PAC-10 opponent once. If two teams in the PAC-10 don't play, then it will count as a conference loss for both teams. Some teams are PAC-10 independents. To qualify for the tournament, they will need to play each PAC-10 opponent once and meet the minimum games listed above. If not, they can still be CBSMF independents. Here is how tie breakers will be handled regarding teams' records prior to the tournament: 1) best conference record 2) head to head 3) overall record 4) points Some equipment issues and rules came up and here is the result of those debates.....compromise was key here: Player height: 1 13/16" tall measured from field level to the top of the highest point on the figure. This measurement includes the base and should be made with the figure on its base, on a field. Player width: 1 3/4" wide Players must be realistically proportioned physically. For example, you could put out a defensive linemen that meets the height, width and 4.0 weight restrictions, but if he looks like the Sta-Puft marshmallow man, then he is not likely to get past the two judges selected as figure arbiters. The throwing QB must be mounted on a base. The following bases can't be used to mount the throwing QB: Coleco, Munro or Gorilla bases. Friction tape or some similar non-friction layer can be put on the front of the base to prevent it from slipping when passing, but this layer should not be thicker than necessary to gain an advantage in elevation for throwing. If any such base addition is questionable, then a figure arbiter will rule on its eligibilty for game use. (not discussed, but should be....the base should not be altered in any way otherwise....except for perhaps prong removal?) Players should agree on which board to play on. If an agreement can't be reached, then it will be up to the two judges selected as board arbiters to make a decision on which board shall be used. If the players still won't agree after the judges make a ruling, then the game will be a forfeit for both teams. We have plenty of good boards out here, so we don't anticipate this being a huge issue. Although it was not discussed...I think we should attempt to give a player half of his conference games on his home field. Perhaps this can be done based on last year's schedule...if you had the home field last year, then give your opponent the option for home field this year. Defensive players allowed to intercept the ball: Any player engaged by any of the 5 offensive linemen can't intercept a ball. In that case, the ball is knocked down. Note that this changes the rule that allowed players other than defensive linemen to intercept the ball when engaged by an offensive linemen. We will not be using the CBSMF punt rules in the PAC-10. The box will be used for punts instead (I also believe we will be handling field goals and extra points the same way we did last year....but that wasn't a topic of discussion yesterday). I will have to look over my notes to see if there were additional issues discussed, but I think this is the gist of what was covered. Last edited by FrustratedFinFan : 02-07-2010 at 12:54 PM. |

Rasta, we have also nominated two additional stat keepers. Ajah accepted one position and in your absence we give you the other spot. Stat keeping last season was too much for two people to do and get them posted in a timely manner. With the four of us, it will not be a real big burden on anyone.
Good luck to you and ajah! Hope Grandma had a SUPER day!
