A little idea for customizers/painters
Hi,
Seeing topics in the gallery forum, I had an idea : it should be great if all painters/customizers give us the brand(s) of figures they used for their team, and technical information too : what type of paint, decals, customizing special tips, etc... Some painters already do that : it's helpfull for beginners (you can't imagine the time I spent to simply guess the figures brands, types, etc... when I came here), and for advanced hobbyists, sharing technical tips is one of the best ways to improve ourselves. My two cents Dimitri |

.
I think it's a good idea, too. I asked for everyone to message me the brand and color of paints they use, but nobody did. Good luck with this one.

I'm game-
Type Figures:
I build teams of approximately 30-33 players in both home and away. On any given team, the breakdown is usually: 2 quarterbacks 5 offensive linemen 4 running backs 4 wide receivers 2 tight ends 5 defensive linemen 4 linebackers 6 defensive backs 1 kicker (special teams ace) The figure types I usually use- 50% Buzzball (some of these are customed up) 15% 67 Big Men 15% Haiti Repro or Pro Line 20% Reg Figures (customed up) Paint: Golds and Silvers: Citadel All others: Testors or custom mixes Clearcoat: Delta Ceramcoat Glossy I use all acrylics. I usually do not paint the figure baseplate. I think it's a waste of paint. Brushes: Smallest you can get, use sable where possible. Clay: Citadel putty (the green clay) Facemasks: Dewayne Jennings Chinstraps: Chinstraps by Guttman Decals: I use Testors decal paper and Decal Bonder spray. I make my decals using Appleworks (Mac) and print them from MS Powerpoint. I do not use white ink, so I must print on white paper, unless I'm doing a visitor team, then I will use clear paper. I print the logos/decals, wait 24 hours to dry. The apply bonder spray. Wait another 24 hours to dry. Then they are ready to cut and apply. Logos: Make .13" in height Jersey Numbers: Front: Make .25" in height Back: Make .3" in height Use a dab of sealer on the area where the decal is to go to hold it in place. Then clearcoat the entire figure with the largest paint brush you can use. Base tweaking: Quarterback: Best mobile all-around TTC base. Must run straight. Running backs: Mix of bases, include loopers Wide receivers: Same as running backs, more speed Tight ends: Block, and get off the line Linemen: 2 straight, 1 ITZ Mangler, and 2 on dials for offense, and defense, mix it up. Linebackers: Fast and straight, except one MLB on a strong TTC Defensive backs: Corners move straight as possible, Safeties on reliable TTC's for speed and straight. Kicker: Fast Rookie base. Whew! |
