Favre
Well, there is a press conference scheduled at 11:30 or so. Childress to announce that Brett will not play. Of course, he'll say, "At this time Brett is not playing". Which means Brett could still play. Preseason hasn't even started.
So...........This is what Packer fans have put up with for years? So sorry! No matter, I'll still root for Worthlesberger and the Steelers. |

You know he's still under contract and sometimes I wonder why they even put up with all the antics involving him. there are a lot of promising young quarterbacks in the league who could give the vikings a fighting chance to make it into the playoffs, just seems like a lot of hoopla over nothing!!!! It's time for the Vikings to trade for or draft a qb for the future and stop worrying about right now.

Favre
"Will he retire a Packer?"
Nope...at least not with the current admin/coach in play. He played a high-stakes game of media poker in the summer of 08 with them trying to finagle his way to the Vikes and there's too much bad blood with how he handled that. "Will he go into the Hall of Fame as a Packer?" Fortunately we never have to answer that. In football, it's just the bust of the unhelmeted man so there's no hat/uniform involved like there is in baseball. "Is he retired this time?" Yeah right. Brett has this incredible need to be "wanted". If he would've shown up as expected in a couple weeks then he would've done just what everybody thought he would. He'd also look a little bit lazy for not going through training camp like the rest of the guys. This way, he floats out a couple "retirement" texts. He could easily squash things yes or no right now, but he loves this stuff so he lets it linger. People start talking about him again and he gets begged to come back. He also has the built-in excuse of "I knew I wasn't 100% with the ankle, but everyone wanted me to give it a shot" so he thinks he doesn't look bad. Great player on the field (except for curious decision making in key post-season situations) but a definite tool off the field. Leadership is getting in there with the troops and setting the example not trying to create your own rule set. This time, though, I think he'll unretire after the Saints game. I don't think he wants to face a Gregg Williams defense again as they beat the snot out of him (which is now the book on how to beat Favre...hit him often and even late in the first few quarters and watch him get edgy later) |

As a lifelong Vikings fan...
I would have settled for a Donovan McNabb, with a Tim Tebow in the draft. I loved Tebow at that position and I felt the Vikes should have done what they could to try to draft this guy.
Many do not like Tebow but one thing you never have to worry about with this kid is character issues. I think McNabb would have done well in Minnesota, the right fit for the time left in his career. The funny thing about the Favre thing is we were just sitting around a few days earlier talking about the antics of Brett Favre and how you get SO, SO, SO tired of the Favre soap opera. If he leaves, he leaves the Vikes with QBs who can not compete on a high school level (IMO). Not a T. Jackson fan or Rosenfales fan. All they can hope is that a good backup becomes available when rosters are cut down. But yes, another prima donna athlete who wants the world to beg him. Please leave Brett and turn the light off behind you. Reginald Viking Fan since 1968 |

Once again
Brett's looking for attention. Forget him and move on.

He's no better than T.O or Ochoa
He just wants the attn like Tom said. Just say you want to play, but don't want to do the camp........I"m sure nobody will object?
But all this retirement stuff is stupid. Nat'l

No need to pour gas on the fire. Besides... in my day I too clocked a few hours in bathroom stalls with young drunk honeys. I lived in a glass house a long time ago, now I buy Windex. |
