Default CBSMF Second Round Updates

I have to apologize because my information isn't as precise as I would like it to be. I have ben juggling playing, reffing and trying to hang with my son Zack who is here with me.

Here is what I know:

I reffed the game between Ohio State (Ken Allen) and the defending champion Texas Longhorns (Michael Robertson). This game was a knockdown, drag out street fight that went down to the wire. The game was scoreless until late in the second quarter when Ohio State kicked a FG for a 3 - 0 lead. Texas came back with a quick TD for a 7-3 lead which was shortlived as Ohio State returned the kickoff for a TD and a 10 - 7 half-time lead.

In the second half, Texas scored on a long TD play as Ohio State's secondary missed several opportunities to make the tackle to go up 14 - 10. Ohio Sate kept coming all day long. Only a shoe string tackle in the open field stopped Ohio State from taking the lead late in the game. Texas defense bent, but didn't break and they held on for a 14 - 10 victory.

Ohio State's field goal kicker had a rough night going 1 - 4. This game was truly an epic battle.

After this game my information gets a little sketchy. However, in a rematch from last year Saginaw Valley (Greg Hardmon) took on Tennessee (Reginald Rutledge) with the Volunteers looking for a little revenge. Well the Volunteers came up big pulling off the upset. I know the score was 20 - 12 late in the game, it may have been 28 - 12. Congratulations to Reggie.

In a third game, Texas Tech (Doug Shanafelt) was able to slowdown the high powered offense of the ECU Pirates (Rick Garrison) to pull out a 27 - 8 victory.

Unfortunately I do not have a final score from the last game between Oklahoma (Barry Stephenson) and UCLA (Marcelo Troilo) as this game did not begin until close to midnight. I do know that UCLA was leading 14 - 0 in the first half, but the Sooners were driving.

All in all there was a lot of great action. It should be a heckuva finish today.

Default Update

UCLA went on to win 17 - 10.

The final four is set:

Texas Tech (Doug) plays Tennessee (Reggie)

UCLA (Marcelo Troilo) plays Texas (Michael Robertson)

It should be fun.

Awesome stuff. Can't wait to see how it plays out. Wish I could be there.

Joe - thanks for the updates. I know how hard it is to keep the updates coming when you're busy at the convention.
