Solitaire Draft
I was just playing a solitaire game and had an idea that I might implement in my league. I thought I should start having a draft at the end of each of my solitaire seasons to change a little of the performance for each team. I could only think of one realistic way to do this without having to tweak and change bases and paint more men for my current teams, and that is to have a one round draft. After my season ends, the teams will get ranked from worst to best based on record just like an NFL draft. But instead of drafting new players, I will instead pull numbers out of a hat for each team in their corresponding order. These numbers will represent the "new" quarterback for the team. The only way I can make this work realistically is to have a current rating chart for my teams now. So, say one team has a quarterback that has a current rating of 5 out of 5, he would be a Very Good quarterback. So because he is a "5", when that team runs passing plays, I will give him 10 seconds to line up and throw the ball. If another team has a quarterback with a rating of "2", then he is not nearly as good, so for that team I will only give myself 3 seconds to line the pass up and throw the ball. So now I can put a draft into play for the quarterbacks and this can easily make a team better since I am making all the passes in reality. So on the "draft," the team may opt to make a draft pick to try and better their quarterback or they can opt to not make a selection. But to keep from having all teams with a "5" quarterback, then each quarterback can only have a career of 3 or 4 seasons. So, fellow solitaire players, tell me what you think.

Personaly, here's the system I plan to do :
1)tweak enough bases for all my conference teams. One type of bases for line, 1 for QB, one for Wr, etc... then, I make the recruiting. Picking randomly bases for each team. Then, I'll play the season, recording stats. I'll know wich players are the best. Then, at the end of the season, I think I'll simply allow the 2 or 3 worst teams (4,5,6) to swap their worst bases (maybe 3 on the first team, 2 on the 2nd, 1 on the third) with the best bases of the 1,2,3 best teams.

I plan to have a four round draft for 8 teams. I will have a red vs blue college allstar game with tweaked bases to determine the rank of the bases. I also will run a football combine camp to detect speed and strength. That's a good idea for the QB's (5 to 1 rating). I plan to use the passing sticks in my games, therefore, the WR, RB, OFF line and DEF rank higher that a QB.

Those are really intersting idea...but i think i will follow my set and it is to take the current roster of each teams (32 NFL teams) and stand with my 6 game schedule. With that, my wife is not going to kill me and will not take too much time (4 quarters of 10 plays).
But your ideas are really excellent. Take it easy Benster
